What is the gospel?

June 13, 2013 by Tom Grosh IV Leave a Comment

Responding to “The Challenge of Jesus”

February 18, 2013 by Tom Grosh IV Leave a Comment

At InterVarsity's Graduate & Faculty Ministry's Following Christ '98, N.T. Wright delivered a series of expositions which thanks to InterVarsity Press became The Challenge of Jesus: Rediscovering Who Jesus Was & Is (1999).* Due to publishing, these explorations of the text blessed not only conference attendees, but also many others. One such person is Sean Gladding. The Challenge of Jesus became "The soil from which The Story of God, the Story of Us sprang" (InterVarsity Press, 2010, 247). Over the weekend … [Read more...] about Responding to “The Challenge of Jesus”

Summer reading: “Welcome to the [Wright] Revolution!”

May 14, 2012 by Tom Grosh IV Leave a Comment

(N.T. Wright sings "Genesis" at Hearts and Mind, https://vimeo.com/4214987) Last week Mike asked what's on our various summer reading lists. I'm going to be reading some works by the story-telling minstrel Rt. Rev. N.T. (Tom) Wright, Research Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. As some of you know Rt. Rev. N.T. (Tom) Wright has recently blessed a number of groups with singing as part of his speaking tour. On Saturday, I had the privilege of hearing him … [Read more...] about Summer reading: “Welcome to the [Wright] Revolution!”

What do “the righteous” look like in higher education?

January 12, 2012 by Tom Grosh IV 1 Comment

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? -- Micah 6:8 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness. -- Proverbs 11:10 What do you consider the characteristics of "the righteous," particularly in the area of vocation? How do you (as an individual and as a member of God's people) envision, glimpse, even embody "the righteous" on … [Read more...] about What do “the righteous” look like in higher education?
