This was my first time at the ASA meeting and it is easily one of the highlights of my adult life. Being able to connect with other Christians who take science and faith seriously is an invaluable source of encouragement when returning to contexts that are suspicious about science-faith interaction (be it in the church or in the academy). – Mark, Student/Early Career Participant [Read more…] about Thanking God for ASA 2016 and A Grant to Expand in 2017

ASA Surges to the Finish Line
Thanks so much for participating in the American Scientific Affiliation’s Fall Student Membership Drive! ASA welcomed 325 new student members (from 68 campuses). That’s 75 more than the 250 free memberships ASA made it a goal to give away. ESN members and friends contributed to that number, and ASA has welcomed 45 new graduate student members as part of that group. [Read more…] about ASA Surges to the Finish Line

Friendly Competition: Can ESN Find the Most New ASA Members?
We know ESN members like a little friendly competition, so here’s a contest for the rest of October: share free student memberships to the American Scientific Affiliation (ASA). ASA’s October student membership drive is underway, and they’d love to give out free memberships and free books to new student members (grad or undergrad) who could use the support of more experienced Christians in science. Here’s how it works:
- Sign up (if a student) or invite students to sign up for a free ASA membership and a free book at the ASA website.
- Name ESN as the way you found out about ASA when you sign up, or invite others to do so.
ASA will be recruiting through a number of other sources. Let’s see if ESN can help give away the most memberships and books! There are at least 97Â new memberships already, so we’ll have our work cut out for us. 🙂 Curious how your school is stacking up? Check out this chart.

New Science/Faith Resource Page from ASA
Looking for faith/science resources? Check out the new Resources on Science and Christian Faith from the American Scientific Affiliation. It includes free mini-courses on topics such as:
- Bioethics
- Environmental stewardship
- Reading Genesis as a scientist
Gathered from years of ASA resources including journal articles and presentations at ASA’s annual meeting, this extensive resource can support campus groups, individuals, and churches looking for materials. As ASA and ESN partner more closely to support emerging scholars in science, it’s a pleasure to share this great new resource.
