Connect with ESN: American Scientific Affiliation Annual Meeting

The Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) is delighted to announce a closer partnership with the American Scientific Affiliation (ASA), the largest professional organization of Christian scientists. ASA and InterVarsity have always been good friends, and now we’re partnering more closely to support students and early career academics and professionals who are Christians and scientists.

ASA has a network of experienced Christian scientists who desire to support others as they navigate faith/science issues and grow in their vocations, so it’s a natural partnership. Randy Isaac, Executive Director of the ASA, notes:

We are excited about the opportunity to work more closely with our long-time partners at IVCF. ESN connects many students working at the cutting edge of science. The ASA brings them together with experienced scientists and engineers to explore the implications of scientific research for Christians.

We’ll be sharing more joint initiatives to serve Christians in science as the summer unfolds. For the moment we want to highlight the ASA Annual Meeting, taking place July 24-27. With speakers like Alister McGrath, Esther Meek, and Amos Yong, the conference features thoughtful reflection on faith and science.

Also, it’s a great place to connect with ESN and give input on future programming and networking opportunities. ESN and ASA will jointly host a reception for early career scientists, including a chance to give input on future conference planning. In collaboration, ASA and ESN hope to craft a 2016 ASA conference track specifically designed to support emerging Christian scientists. Come meet colleagues and share your thoughts with us!

Read about the conference here or register here. Early registration closes June 15, so now is a great time to sign up.

Thank-you to the ministry partners who provide the resources to enable the Emerging Scholars Network to press into this crucial engagement of emerging Christian academics and professionals. If you have not already done such, we invite you to prayerfully consider becoming part of the support team through giving at the close of our fiscal year (June 30). Support ESN Connect: https://blog.emergingscholars.org/about/esn-connects/.

The Emerging Scholars Network is always seeking opportunities to identify, encourage, and equip the next generation of Christian scholars to be a redeeming influence in the academy, church, and the world. As you have an announcement, a "call for papers", an event, a prayer request (e.g., campus, field, higher ed), a resource suggestion, a review, etc., which is in concord with our Kingdom of God endeavor, please send materials (marketing/sales material not accepted) for consideration to post via email or the ESN Writer Survey. Thank-you. To God be the glory!

About Us

The Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) is a national network within InterVarsity’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries which supports those on the academic pathway as they work out how their academic vocation serves God and others. We encourage and equip undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and early career faculty as they navigate each stage of their academic vocation and transition to the next step in or beyond the academy.
