Would you like to support an emerging scholar as that person makes vital connections with other Christian academics at Urbana: InterVarsity’s Student Missions Conference (December 27-31)? In a pilot program, the Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) is offering 20 sponsorships to Urbana for emerging scholars. They include a chance to engage in smaller groups with believers in their subject area, and $100 towards Urbana tuition.
We imagine this pilot program as a chance for Christians in higher ed to engage with others in their subject areas, talk about living missional lives in the academy, and create connections to a wider community of missional scholars. All early career Christian academics are welcome to apply, from undergraduate students to assistant professors.
As we pursue opportunities to connect Christian scholars at other conferences, we plan to use the Urbana pilot program as a springboard to crafting other networking and community building experiences as well. Would you consider supporting emerging scholars through a gift towards ESN sponsorships? Note: If you’re an emerging scholar and desire to participate, please register for Urbana before the June 30 rate increase and apply for the sponsorship!
AND yes, we’re also looking for more experienced academics willing to serve as facilitators during Urbana. So if that describes you, please email us here.
Thank-you to the ministry partners who provide the resources to enable the Emerging Scholars Network to press into this crucial engagement of emerging Christian academics and professionals. If you have not already done such, we invite you to prayerfully consider becoming part of the support team through giving at the close of our fiscal year (June 30).

The Emerging Scholars Network is always seeking opportunities to identify, encourage, and equip the next generation of Christian scholars to be a redeeming influence in the academy, church, and the world. As you have an announcement, a “call for papers”, an event, a prayer request (e.g., campus, field, higher ed), a resource suggestion, a review, etc., which is in concord with our Kingdom of God endeavor, please send materials (marketing/sales material not accepted) for consideration to post via email or the ESN Writer Survey. Thank-you. To God be the glory!
