Highlighting Community: Princeton Grad IV Social Justice Discussion

December 19, 2017 by Hannah Eagleson 1 Comment

At ESN, we like to share about various campus ministry settings, including InterVarsity graduate and faculty local fellowships. We usually do this in our Highlighting Community series. Today, we highlight the relaunch of the Princeton InterVarsity Grad Student Group.   I've recently moved to the Princeton (NJ) area, and while here I have the privilege of helping restart the Princeton Grad IV chapter. My main responsibilities continue to be with the ESN blog and our national events, but I'm also delighted to be … [Read more...] about Highlighting Community: Princeton Grad IV Social Justice Discussion

Following Jesus at the University: Our Four Ministry Commitments in Context, InterVarsity’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries

September 3, 2017 by David Suryk 7 Comments

The beginning of the new academic year is a great time to revisit our core commitments and be renewed in our excitement about them.  ESN is a ministry of InterVarsity's Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM). We encourage students and faculty to live out  GFM's Four Commitments for ministry: Spiritual Formation; Community; Evangelism and Service; and Integration of Faith, Learning, and Practice. Today, GFM Campus Staff Member David Suryk shares his vision for how these commitments work out in the context of  campus … [Read more...] about Following Jesus at the University: Our Four Ministry Commitments in Context, InterVarsity’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries

Migration as the Manifold Grace of God: Robert Chao Romero

August 5, 2017 by J. Nathan Matias Leave a Comment

How does God use the migration process to extend His grace in its many forms? I'm here at InterVarsity's Northeast Faculty Retreat, hearing from  professor  Robert Chao Romero  (@ProfeChaoRomero), a Chinese-Latinx American historian and immigration lawyer at UCLA. He's the author of  The Chinese in Mexico, 1882-1940  , winner of the Latin American Studies Association's Latina/o Studies Section Book Award. Robert opens up by pointing to I Peter 2:11-12, which argues that as followers of Jesus, we are exiles and … [Read more...] about Migration as the Manifold Grace of God: Robert Chao Romero

Living Toward Shalom

February 28, 2015 by Tom Grosh IV Leave a Comment

But seek the shalom of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its shalom you will find your shalom. —Jeremiah 29:7 In the last week of March, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's Graduate and Faculty Ministries  (GFM) staff team will come together for our annual national staff conference. I am looking forward to this year's exploration of  Living Toward Shalom. As you may guess, we have a number of significant  pre-conference readings and learning assignments designed … [Read more...] about Living Toward Shalom
