This year, the Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) launched Scholar’s Compass, introduced Christian scholars to peers across continents, and supported ESN Local pilot events in Boston and Central Pennsylvania.
We reflect on the imagery of growth this Advent, thinking about passages like Isaiah 41: 19–20 (ESV):
I will put in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the myrtle, and the olive. I will set in the desert the cypress, the plane and the pine together, that they may see and know, may consider and understand together, that the hand of the Lord has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it.
Through God’s grace and your participation, ESN has grown and is ready to take the next steps, with plans to build a collaboratively written resource on the Theology of Higher Education, launch ESN Local events in more places, and support ESN members through online conversation opportunities.
We’re so grateful for all the ways you’ve partnered with us this year, from praying for us to writing for Scholar’s Compass to joining in the conversation on Facebook. We look forward to connecting with you in 2015.
We’d also invite you to join with us in funding ESN. We understand that it’s often difficult to find the resources, but even a small gift will help ESN grow in 2015. If every person on our mailing list sent us $5, we’d be about a third of the way to our budget goal for next year. If each mailing list member gave $20, we’d be well above our goals and likely able to expand even further than planned.
We’d also welcome your suggestions and participation in other ways. Again, we’re deeply grateful for your prayers and engagement in every way. We thank God for His grace in this season of Incarnation, and we thank Him for you.
In Christ,

The Emerging Scholars Network is always seeking opportunities to identify, encourage, and equip the next generation of Christian scholars to be a redeeming influence in the academy, church, and the world. As you have an announcement, a “call for papers”, an event, a prayer request (e.g., campus, field, higher ed), a resource suggestion, a review, etc., which is in concord with our Kingdom of God endeavor, please send materials (marketing/sales material not accepted) for consideration to post via email or the ESN Writer Survey. Thank-you. To God be the glory!
