Read on for finalized details on the upcoming Christians in Chemistry meetup at the ACS San Diego Meeting. In our goal of connecting Christian academics to the communities they need, we often publicize meetups of Christians at various conferences. The informal group “Christians in Chemistry” has an upcoming meeting at the ACS San Diego National Meeting August 26, and they asked us to share the information with ESN readers. If you are organizing a meetup of Christians at a conference, email us at ESN. We would love to publicize it, circumstances permitting. (Image: San Diego Convention Center)

Event & Time: 5:30 PM Monday August 26 gathering at the ACS Meeting in San Diego

Location: Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, Grand Ballroom, Section 12

You are invited to a gathering of the very informal group “Christians in Chemistry”. There were about 50 present for the last such meeting (Orlando ACS). At the ACS San Diego National Meeting, Lord Willing, we will gather at 5:30 PM August 26 for a one hour time of sharing. The location will be the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, just to the northwest of the main convention center. By no means required, but some of the folks attending will go out for dinner at an inexpensive nearby restaurant. Suggestions welcome.

Two distinguished speakers will share for about 20 minutes each. The first is Robert Gilliard, gifted synthetic inorganic chemist and Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. Our second person sharing will be a distinguished theoretical chemist, Professor Peter Gill, of the University of Sydney, Australia. Please share with chemists who will be attending the ACS San Diego Meeting.  Undergraduate and graduate students are warmly welcomed!

Any questions email Fritz Schaefer at ccq[at]uga.edu.

The Emerging Scholars Network is always seeking opportunities to identify, encourage, and equip the next generation of Christian scholars to be a redeeming influence in the academy, church, and the world. As you have an announcement, a "call for papers", an event, a prayer request (e.g., campus, field, higher ed), a resource suggestion, a review, etc., which is in concord with our Kingdom of God endeavor, please send materials (marketing/sales material not accepted) for consideration to post via email or the ESN Writer Survey. Thank-you. To God be the glory!

About Us

The Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) is a national network within InterVarsity’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries which supports those on the academic pathway as they work out how their academic vocation serves God and others. We encourage and equip undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and early career faculty as they navigate each stage of their academic vocation and transition to the next step in or beyond the academy.
