Faith and Reason: Interview with Alan Padgett

June 30, 2014 by Tom Grosh IV Leave a Comment

In a recent email exchange with Alan Padgett, in follow-up to last summer's Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) blog interview on Fruitful, Faithful Presence in the Academy  and in exploring ESN's "A Theology of Higher Education Project", I learned that Alan has contributed to another InterVarsity Press (IVP) publication:  Faith and Reason: Three Views  (June 2014). In response I dropped him a quick reply so that we can be on the cutting edge regarding this new publication. Tom: Alan, I'm so excited to learn about … [Read more...] about Faith and Reason: Interview with Alan Padgett

Interview: David Naugle on Philosophy

May 19, 2014 by Tom Grosh IV Leave a Comment

As I shared in Interview: David Naugle on Worldview, I've engaged in periodic conversation with David Naugle  for quite some time to wrestle with "the heart" and the history of worldview. His recent publication Philosophy: A Student's Guide  (Crossway, 2012) caught my attention  as a valuable and short introductory resource (128 pages). As with the previous interview, I take full responsibility for the related pictures and links :) Tom: David, Thank-you for once again sharing your time, gifts, and insights with … [Read more...] about Interview: David Naugle on Philosophy

In  Part I,  I explored what Alan G. Padgett, DPhil (Oxford) will share at the upcoming  Midwest Faculty Conference:  Fruitful, Faithful Presence: Living Theologically in the Midst of the Academy  (Cedar Campus, MI, 6/22-28).* Although the conference (or what some have termed a Confamication**)  will provide an opportunity for Padgett to develop his thoughts on Fruitful, Faithful Presence in the Academy, he has a significant amount of work in theology involving systematic theology, moral theology (ethics), and the … [Read more...] about Fruitful, Faithful Presence in the Academy: Part II

Fruitful, Faithful Presence in the Academy: Part I

June 11, 2013 by Tom Grosh IV Leave a Comment

Fruitful, Faithful Presence: Living Theologically in the Midst of the Academy, the Midwest Faculty Conference is just around the corner  (Cedar Campus, MI,  June 22 - 28).* On Monday, I had the opportunity to interview Alan G. Padgett, DPhil (Oxford), Professor of Systematic Theology at Luther Seminary (St. Paul, MN), regarding the material he will be presenting. This is the first of two posts. As we talked, I appreciated Padgett's commitment  to "represent classic Christianity" and for theology to be “a way of … [Read more...] about Fruitful, Faithful Presence in the Academy: Part I
