Through Lent and culminating today on Easter, the Emerging Scholars Network has shared collects from The Book of Common Prayer and prayer requests from Emerging Scholars*. Scholar’s Compass has continued, but with posts on weekdays instead of Sundays.
Collect for Easter, Book of Common Prayer
O God, who didst make this most holy night to shine with
the glory of the Lord’s resurrection: Stir up in thy Church
that Spirit of adoption which is given to us in Baptism, that
we, being renewed both in body and mind, may worship thee
in sincerity and truth; through the same Jesus Christ our
Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.*
Prayer requests for the week:
- We are in need of more students to commit to being involved in our graduate group.
- Building upon the prayer request shared at Urbana Student Missions Conference during ESN’s seminar and addressing a concern close to my own heart as I serve the Christian Medical Society (CMS)/CMDA at Penn State Hershey which has faced leadership transition/student participation challenges due to curriculum changes**:
- Let us join together in praying for the people of God to gather in shared mission of offering one’s head, heart, and hands to Lord and in love of neighbor. May the people of God truly be the light of Christ in the cafe, the classroom, the lab, the library, the office . . . May God’s presence through his Word, Spirit, people, and creation to be unmistakeable not only this resurrection week, but also throughout the labors/years to come. To God be the glory!

*As you and/or your fellowships have particular prayer requests to share, please email ESN.
** But God has been good, very good! A “testimony” which I will share in the future. Stay tuned . . .
The Emerging Scholars Network is always seeking opportunities to identify, encourage, and equip the next generation of Christian scholars to be a redeeming influence in the academy, church, and the world. As you have an announcement, a “call for papers”, an event, a prayer request (e.g., campus, field, higher ed), a resource suggestion, a review, etc., which is in concord with our Kingdom of God endeavor, please send materials (marketing/sales material not accepted) for consideration to post via email or the ESN Writer Survey. Thank-you. To God be the glory!
